Courageous Teens: Standing Against Hostile Recruitment

Young in age but mature in actions: police in Odessa have recognized teenagers who resisted recruitment by Russian intelligence. They not only refused to cooperate with the aggressor but also immediately informed adults about the hostile offers. 

Four boys and a girl aged 14 to 17 received criminal proposals from the aggressor state's intelligence services via messaging apps. They were offered monetary rewards to take photos of military sites, set fire to relay cabinets, and vehicles of military and police personnel.

The teenagers promptly reported this to the authorities. Thanks to their principled refusal to cooperate with the enemy, a number of dangerous crimes were prevented.

“These children demonstrated maturity and responsibility, showing true patriotism. They did not fall for enemy promises, rejected ‘easy money,’ and chose the path of truth. They acted as conscious citizens of their country. We sincerely thank them and urge everyone not to remain silent about similar cases,” said Victoria Chalova, head of the juvenile prevention department of the National Police in the Odessa region.

The police also expressed gratitude to the parents for raising their children well, and the teenagers received certificates and gifts.

Their actions serve as an inspiring example for their peers and a reminder that even at a young age, one can be a conscious citizen concerned about the safety of their country.

The police continue their educational efforts among the youth, explaining the threats of recruitment and cyber safety rules. They also encourage everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious contacts or offers. Every act of caring is a contribution to our common victory.
