Dangerous Incident: Teen Injured on Train Station
On June 26, a dangerous incident occurred at a train station in the Odesa region involving a minor. A 13-year-old girl climbed onto a stationary freight wagon, where she was electrocuted, resulting in serious injuries.
According to the Odesa regional police, the girl was immediately taken to the hospital for medical assistance. An eyewitness shared details of the incident with law enforcement.
"We once again urge parents to supervise their children's leisure activities and remind them that the railroad is not a place for fun," the police warned.
Officers are currently investigating the circumstances of how the girl was injured and whether any responsibility will be assigned in this case. It is important to note that freight cars and trains are under high voltage, and electricity can strike even without direct contact if one gets too close.
This year, there have already been three tragic incidents in the Odesa region where teenagers have died or suffered severe burns after climbing onto stationary wagons.
Victoria Chalova, head of the juvenile prevention department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region, emphasized that even stationary railway infrastructure poses a deadly risk due to high voltage. She mentioned that danger can arise not only from touching but also from approaching to a dangerous distance.
"Children often mimic what they see on social media, not realizing that a few thousand likes are not worth the consequences - severe burns, loss of health, or even life," Victoria Chalova warned.
