Water Supply Challenges in Odesa Region: New Initiatives
In the Odesa region, authorities are actively seeking solutions to water supply issues and completing the reconstruction of a nine-story building in Serhiivka that was destroyed. A group water pipeline is planned for 16 settlements, where approximately 45,000 residents need access to water.
This information was reported by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The head of the agency, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, met with community leaders and district councils to address the critical water supply situation. The issue particularly affects the Bolhrad and Suvoriv communities, where residents rely on water deliveries due to the lack of access to artesian wells. The agency head announced plans to construct a group water pipeline to resolve this issue.
"Ensuring water supply for the communities in Odesa is critical and requires immediate solutions. About 45,000 people currently need water. We hope to allocate funds for this project that were saved from the pipeline project for Mykolaiv," emphasized Serhiy Sukhomlyn.
Completion of Reconstruction in Serhiivka
Serhiy Sukhomlyn, along with First Deputy Head Mykola Boiko and Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kovalchuk, visited Serhiivka, where reconstruction of the nine-story building destroyed by a Russian missile in the summer of 2022 is nearing completion. The reconstruction began in 2023, and all engineering networks have been installed, entrances have been renovated, the facade painted, and the roof restored.
"I spoke with the residents. Each family has its own story. Some are still recovering from injuries, while others, luckily, were not home at the time of the explosion. However, what unites everyone is the desire to return home," shared Mykola Boiko.
The restored building features energy-efficient solutions, a reliable bomb shelter, and accessibility with elevators, ramps, and handrails. The apartments have been finished with walls and flooring, taking into account the residents' needs.
