18 June 2025

Odesa Again Showcased Its Achievements at the National Conference on the “Barrier-Free Movement” Project

On June 18, 2025, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine hosted the second national conference dedicated to the implementation of the flagship project “Barrier-Free Movement.”

The event was led by Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery Oleksii Kuleba, with the participation of Deputy Minister Nataliia Kozlovska.

Oleksandr Zhiltsov, Secretary of the Barrier-Free Council, presented a report on the implementation of Odesa’s Barrier-Free Plan and new initiatives underway in the city. Emphasis was placed on key facilities such as hospitals, transport hubs, and social institutions where creating an accessible environment is critically important.

Odesa is actively introducing inclusive public transport stops, operating a social taxi service, adapting medical institutions, and implementing solutions to support veterans and people with limited mobility.

All projects related to the implementation of barrier-free solutions are coordinated by Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and the Barrier-Free Council of the Odesa City Council.

As a reminder, Odesa is one of the pilot communities participating in the “Barrier-Free Movement” project, which is being implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine through 2030, under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
