Gas Explosion in Odesa: Victim in Critical Condition

A powerful gas explosion occurred in a private house in the Khadjibey district of Odesa due to a gas cylinder breach. The homeowner was rescued by firefighters from the rubble in critical condition.

According to the State Emergency Service (SES), the incident took place last evening on Oleksii Kosyachenko Street. The explosion was caused by the gas cylinder's breach in a private residential building.

The powerful blast partially destroyed the ceiling and walls of the house. The shockwave caused severe damage, trapping the homeowner under the debris.

"The homeowner, born in 1979, sustained severe injuries, with 70% of his body burned. Firefighters rescued him from the collapsed house and handed him over to medics," SES reported.

The 45-year-old man sustained critical injuries - burns cover 70% of his body, which is an extremely severe condition. Rescuers quickly removed the victim from the rubble and transferred him to an ambulance crew.

To address the aftermath of the explosion, SES deployed two units of special equipment and 12 firefighters. The rescuers worked at the site, clearing debris and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. The victim's condition remains critical due to the extent of the burns. Medical staff are fighting for the man's life in the hospital.
