New Celebration of Children's Protection Day in Ukraine
From now on, Children's Protection Day in Ukraine will be celebrated on November 20, in sync with World Children's Day.
This was established by Decree No. 355/2025 “On Children's Protection Day” signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on May 30.
The document outlines the changes made.
When will Children's Protection Day be celebrated?
“To affirm the protection of childhood as a national priority in Ukraine and to enhance international efforts aimed at safeguarding children's rights, I decree: Establish Children's Protection Day in Ukraine to be celebrated annually on World Children's Day, November 20”, – the decree states.
This decree also invalidates the previous Decree No. 568/98 “On Children's Protection Day” from May 30, 1998. Previously, Children's Protection Day was celebrated annually on June 1.
The Office of the President explained that this move synchronizes Ukraine's observance of Children's Protection Day with the international event on November 20, emphasizing the importance of children's rights at both national and international levels.
