New Frontiers in Mental Health in Odesa
The Odesa City Clinical Hospital No. 10 has launched a Mental Health Center aimed at providing residents with accessible, high-quality support for mental health in outpatient settings.
This Center began its operations last year under the outpatient rehabilitation department and has been functioning as a separate structural unit of the outpatient sector since 2025. Psychological support remains a vital component of comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
Assistance is provided to patients by a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychiatrist, psychophysiologist, psychotherapist, medical psychologist, and clinical psychologists.
If needed, a healthcare chaplain and social worker are involved, allowing for a wide range of support in mental health, crisis intervention, and psychosocial interventions.
The Center offers specialized psychiatric and psychological consultations for patients, especially those affected by the war, Ukrainian defenders, and veterans, and provides support to their relatives along with advice on professional adaptation.
The Center also conducts both group and individual mental health activities, training for hospital medical staff, and workshops on ethical communication with patients.
The operation of the Mental Health Center exemplifies successful integration of psychological, psychiatric, and psychosocial assistance within the healthcare cluster.
Patient referrals to the Mental Health Center are made by psychiatrists or family doctors.
