Mental Health Workshop for Odesa Healthcare Professionals

17 October 2025

On October 16, 2025, a workshop titled “Mental Health — A Resource for Life” was held for healthcare providers in Odesa. This event was organized with the participation of the Odesa City Health Department and the Association of Family Medicine of the Odesa Region in honor of World Mental Health Day.

This year, over 35,000 mental health services were provided in Odesa's medical facilities to adults, children, internally displaced persons, and military personnel.

There are 16 psychological offices operating within the city's healthcare institutions. Additionally, two integrated response centers have been established at the Primary Health Care Centers in the Kyiv and Peresyp districts. These centers host interdisciplinary teams, including coordinators, psychologists, child psychologists, social workers, and lawyers, providing comprehensive support to individuals in crisis, particularly those affected by the war.

Notably, the Mental Health Center established at the City Clinical Hospital No. 10 has become a crucial hub for specialized assistance, offering patients not just psychological consultations but also medical-psychiatric support, rehabilitation services, and individual and group psychotherapy programs.

A new Mental Health Center will soon open at Cluster Hospital No. 1 as part of a collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD), with renovation work currently underway at the Jewish Hospital building.

Psychological assistance in Odesa's medical institutions is provided free of charge as part of the nationwide mental health program “How are you?”. Anyone interested can reach out to qualified professionals for psychological support.

The Odesa City Health Department places special emphasis on the mental well-being and emotional health of medical staff, organizing training sessions to prevent professional burnout and offering opportunities for individual consultations and support groups.
