Renovation Works Ongoing at Odessa Infection Hospital
The Odessa City Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital is currently undergoing renovations.
Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov inspected the progress of the hospital's renovation works.
At this time, restoration is underway on two historical hospital buildings - the Valikhovsky and administrative buildings. These renovations are part of the recovery program for Ukraine, supported by the European Investment Bank.
Additionally, work is nearing completion in the children's wing, built in 1974, which is funded by the Odessa city budget. Comfortable semi-boxed wards with a specialized reverse ventilation system to prevent hospital-acquired infections will be established here.
Special attention is being given to accessibility requirements: entrances are equipped with convenient ramps, and for the first time, elevators are being installed to facilitate movement for patients and staff.
“Soon, the infectious disease hospital will have a completely updated modern department that meets all current requirements. This will enhance Odessa's capabilities in combating infectious diseases. We continue to improve conditions in the city’s medical facilities,” said Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
In 2025, reconstruction of the bacteriological laboratory building at the infection hospital is also planned.
The large-scale phased reconstruction of the city clinical infectious disease hospital began in 2015 with the construction of a boxed building for patients with droplet infections. Since then, a modern reception department, three new boxed wards, a state-of-the-art PCR laboratory, oxygen stations, and cryocylinders have been established.
In 2024, with support from UNICEF, an artesian well and a water supply system will be put into operation to ensure autonomous water supply for the facility. Solar panels have been installed on three buildings of the hospital.
