ChatGPT Enhances Deep Research with a Simplified Version

OpenAI is rolling out a new, simplified version of the deep research feature in ChatGPT. This feature is available to all users for free, but comes with usage limits.
For paid users, the simplified version will be automatically activated once the limits of the full deep research are reached. "Responses will be shorter, yet maintain the same depth and quality that you are accustomed to," — states OpenAI.
The tool is based on the o4-mini model — a streamlined version of the larger o4 model, which incurs lower processing costs. Consequently, this enables OpenAI to increase usage limits.
