Digital Veteran ID: New Opportunities for Ukrainians
One of the main priorities of the government is to implement digital solutions for veterans. The long-awaited electronic veteran ID is now available in the Diia app.
Now over a million Ukrainians can use this ID for various purposes, from securing a mortgage to accessing social services, without the need for a paper version of the document.
The ID is available for:
• combatants;
• war veterans;
• persons with war-related disabilities;
• participants of the Revolution of Dignity;
• relatives of deceased veterans;
• families of fallen defenders of Ukraine.
How to add the veteran ID in Diia:
- download the Diia app and click on «Add Document»;
- select «Veteran ID» and agree to share data from other registries;
- click on «Add» and wait for the document to appear. This will take a few minutes.
What to do if the document is not found?
This may mean that your information has not been entered into the Unified State Register of War Veterans by the issuing authority as per current legislation. Check which authority issued your paper ID and call the unified veteran hotline at 0 800 505 217.
Where to use the e-Veteran ID
It can be used to access benefits and compensations, including:
- free public transport;

- in educational institutions;
- when contacting the administrative service centers;
- for employment and business registration;

This service is implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation together with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine with the support of the «Diia Support Project», funded by Sweden through the UNDP.
