11 June 2024

From May 31 to June 3, 2024, Bucharest (Romania) hosted the global finals of the INFOMATRIX-2024 computer project competition.

This year, the contest brought together 280 students from 17 countries, showcasing 165 diverse projects. The Ukrainian team comprised 18 students from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, presenting 12 projects. Participants competed in five categories: Programming, Computer Art, Hardware Control, Short Film, and Hackathon.

The jury evaluated both the projects and the participants' presentations in English. As a result, the Ukrainian team won 5 bronze, 6 silver, and 1 platinum medal.

Specifically, the bronze medals were awarded to young talents from Odesa:

- Ruslan Maysko and Ivan Zmiyevskoy, 8th-grade students of Odesa Lyceum No. 65 with their project “The Meaning of Life and My Place in It” (supervised by teacher Alla Omelchenko);

- Yegor Bovkun, a 10th-grade student of Odesa Lyceum No. 65 with his project “Model of the World’s First Helicopter” (supervised by teacher Oleg Pustovoyt).

This recognition on an international level demonstrates the strong potential of our students in the field of information technology.

Since 2009, Ukraine has been a regular participant in the INFOMATRIX global finals. The multi-stage selection of finalists and the organization of the team's participation are traditionally conducted by the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
