NeoLens Launches Revolutionary AI Assistant for Military Vehicle Repairs
NeoLens, an American deep-tech startup with Ukrainian roots, has announced the launch of the world's first AI assistant designed for diagnosing and repairing military vehicles. The system operates offline, enabling its use directly on the battlefield. According to the startup's press release, the technology is already assisting mechanics and operators of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in reducing equipment recovery time for vehicles like Humvee, MaxxPro, and M113.
Commander Igor Simutin of the logistics forces states that the AI assistant saves mechanics hours of work, enhances their safety, and prolongs the lifespan of equipment.
Currently, NeoLens is being utilized in dozens of repair battalions along the front line and is gradually scaling to include other types of weaponry, including robotic platforms and artillery. The system is most actively used for Humvee repairs.
The startup was founded this year at Stanford University as part of the Lean Launchpad and Hacking for Defense programs. It was created by Ostap Korkuna, an American of Ukrainian descent, and James Leo, an American of Taiwanese descent. The developers emphasize that NeoLens is the first assistant to operate entirely without internet access, ensuring safety and reliability even in connectivity-challenged areas.
Ostap Korkuna noted that the idea emerged after hundreds of interviews with Ukrainian and American military personnel, who confirmed the need for an autonomous tool for equipment repairs.
NeoLens allows military personnel to conduct step-by-step diagnostics, identify malfunctions, and perform field repairs at an expert level, even if the mechanic is unfamiliar with a particular platform.
Developers stress that the system is provided to Ukrainian military forces free of charge.
The company plans to expand its functionality, including multimodal diagnostics via photos and videos, and scale the technology for civilian sectors and the international defense solutions market.
