Enhancing Chrome Security: New Features from Google

Google has declared that starting October 2026, the "Always use secure connections" feature will be automatically enabled for all users in Chrome. This means that the browser will issue warnings when attempting to access any site without HTTPS.
Currently, Chrome already alerts users to issues with configured HTTPS, but these changes will extend warnings to resources operating solely over HTTP.
According to Google, between 95% and 99% of connections are now made via HTTPS. This level of adoption allows for enhanced protection against insecure HTTP connections. The majority of insecure resources, as stated by the company, are private websites that find it harder to obtain certification.
Before the global rollout of this innovation, Google plans to test it in April 2026 among Chrome users with the Enhanced Safe Browsing feature enabled. If users prefer not to see these new warnings, they will have the option to disable the "Always use secure connections" setting in their configurations.
