ChatGPT Achieves New Milestones in User Growth

05 August 2025

OpenAI has reported remarkable growth in the popularity of ChatGPT, which this week has reached 700 million active users. This is reported by TechCrunch.

According to Vice President Nick Turley, the user count was at 500 million by the end of March, quadrupling over the year. He emphasized that people and teams utilize ChatGPT daily for learning, creativity, and solving complex problems.

The rapid rise in popularity is linked to the introduction of an image generation feature based on the GPT-4 model in March. This option quickly captivated users, who created over 700 million images within days of its launch, with more than 130 million people engaging with the new feature.

The number of paid business users is also on the rise: last week, COO Brad Lightcap announced 5 million subscribers, up from 3 million in June.

According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, the average ChatGPT user accesses the app over 12 times a month. In this regard, it only trails behind Google and X. In the first half of 2025, the average usage time was 16 minutes a day, indicating high user engagement.

Thus, ChatGPT continues to be one of the most popular consumer AI services, while OpenAI actively enhances its functionality and expands its user base.
