Apple Develops Its Own Chatbot to Enhance Search Capabilities
Apple has announced its plans to create its own chatbot, which will serve as a simpler alternative to ChatGPT. According to Bloomberg's report, at the beginning of 2025, Apple formed an internal team called "Answers, Knowledge, and Information" to work on a new AI solution aimed at improving information retrieval.
This move indicates a shift in the company's strategy: in 2024, Apple introduced the Apple Intelligence platform, which did not include its own chatbot but integrated ChatGPT into Siri. The company had doubts about the overall effectiveness of such tools, leading to a lack of focus on this area.
However, Apple has now decided to develop its AI search service, as such solutions have proven quite popular among users. The new tool may be released as a standalone application and could also be integrated into Siri, Spotlight, and Safari.
The team responsible for the chatbot will be led by Robbie Walker, who previously oversaw Siri's development. Apple has already posted job openings to attract specialists in search algorithms and engine development.
The Cupertino-based company has also begun negotiations with several AI startups, including Perplexity, which specializes in AI search technology. This will help bolster Apple's position among its competitors.
Since Apple has just begun working on these new AI tools, a product launch is not expected in the near future.
