Revolutionizing Pathology: LG AI Research Launches EXAONE Path 2.0

09 July 2025

LG AI Research, a part of the South Korean LG Group, has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model, EXAONE Path 2.0, designed for pathology research.

This was reported by Yonhap.

The lab explained that compared to the previous version, EXAONE Path 2.0 offers enhanced accuracy in analyzing and predicting genetic mutations, gene expression patterns, and minor structural changes in human cells and tissues using pathological image data.

It is noted that the model was trained on over 10,000 datasets, incorporating visualization and multi-omics, allowing it to predict gene activity solely based on image analysis, without the need for expensive genomic testing.

“With EXAONE Path 2.0, genetic testing can be completed in less than a minute, compared to more than two weeks it used to take. This will help save crucial time in treating cancer patients,” said lead researcher Pak Yong-min from LG AI Research.

He added that doctors and pharmaceutical companies can utilize EXAONE Path 2.0 for rapid analysis of pathological images of cancer patients, detecting genetic mutations, and selecting appropriate targeted therapies.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Chinese company DeepSeek has also introduced an updated AI model, DeepSeek R1, thereby enhancing its competition with OpenAI, the developer of the popular chatbot ChatGPT.
