Introducing the AEON Robot by Hexagon: A Manufacturing Breakthrough
Hexagon has unveiled its latest humanoid robot, AEON, developed in partnership with NVIDIA. This robot aims to enhance automation in manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and transportation.
AEON has trained in the NVIDIA Isaac Sim virtual environment, enabling it to quickly learn fundamental movement and manipulation skills in just a few weeks, unlike traditional training methods that can take months. In real-world scenarios, AEON operates on the Jetson Orin computer and will receive updates to IGX Thor for safe human collaboration.
The robot will also integrate with the Hexagon Reality Cloud Studio platform. This integration allows AEON to automatically scan environments and objects, creating digital replicas for further analysis in the NVIDIA Omniverse, enabling high-precision digital twins without local infrastructure requirements.
In the future, AEON will be capable of performing precise manipulations, inspecting parts for compliance, controlling equipment, and teleoperation. Hexagon also plans to utilize NVIDIA Isaac GR00T generative models to enhance the robot's skills based on simulations and human examples.
Initial trials of AEON are already being prepared in highly automated facilities.
