ChatGPT Outage: Why the OpenAI service is down and what is known about the errors
Users are widely complaining about their inability to load chats or receive responses, instead seeing a system error message: «Something went wrong».
Initial reports of the issues started coming in around 10:00 AM Kyiv time, with the outage quickly spreading to various regions worldwide.
On OpenAI's official status page, they confirmed the existence of issues, noting a «higher rate of errors and delays».
The problems affected not only ChatGPT but also the video creation tool Sora and the API.
Around 1:00 PM, the company updated the information, categorizing the ChatGPT issues as a «partial outage» and separating the Sora issues into a distinct category.
The outage manifests differently for users: some report extremely slow service and significant response delays, while others continue to use the chatbot without any visible problems.
OpenAI representatives officially stated that they are continuing to investigate the incident.
At this time, the reasons for the outage and an estimated time for full service restoration are not disclosed.
