New Recovery Features in Windows for Insider Participants
Microsoft has announced an upcoming feature for Windows Insider participants using the Beta Channel. Soon, users will see a new tab in their settings that will simplify the configuration of the Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) functionality.
A new page titled "Recovery" will be added under the "System" menu, providing access to critical options for addressing Windows startup issues. Users will be able to check if QMR is activated, how frequently the system checks it, and set up automatic reboots for applying patches.
"Quick recovery is designed to assist your device in recovering from common boot issues by utilizing fixes directly from Microsoft," the company's blog states.
The QMR feature was introduced in November 2024 to allow administrators to remotely recover Windows devices when facing critical errors. QMR will automatically search for fixes in the cloud and recover from frequent failures.
This functionality is based on Startup Repair and utilizes a secure Windows Recovery Environment with network access to find solutions through Windows Update.
