Bayraktar TB2T-AI: Next-Gen Drone Unveiled

The Turkish company Baykar has introduced an upgraded version of its renowned drone, the Bayraktar TB2, now designated as the Bayraktar TB2T-AI. As reported by ArmyInform, the new drone has successfully completed initial tests and set several records.

This upgrade features a new turboprop engine and the integration of advanced artificial intelligence systems, significantly enhancing the UAV's flight performance, increasing its autonomy, and expanding its combat capabilities. The drone is equipped with three new computers powered by sophisticated AI, enabling it to autonomously analyze, detect, and identify targets.

The updated Bayraktar TB2T-AI is capable of performing autonomous take-offs and landings, visually recognizing runways, determining optimal flight paths, and conducting dynamic mission planning. With cutting-edge AI systems, it can navigate terrain even in challenging electronic warfare conditions. In emergencies, the drone's intelligent system can automatically return it to base, greatly enhancing its survivability.

It has been reported that this drone can ascend to over 9000 meters in less than 30 minutes, and during recent tests, it reached a new record height of 9250 meters. Despite an increased takeoff weight and payload, it now boasts an extended flight duration of up to 27 hours. Other enhancements include:

• payload increased by 50-100% from the previous 100 kilograms;
• maximum speed increased from 220 to 300 km/h;
• satellite communication system extends the control radius from 150 km to over 1000 km;

Regarding its combat payload, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI can carry MAM-C laser-guided bombs and MAM-L bombs weighing 22 kg with a range of 15 km. The latest addition to its arsenal is the miniature cruise missile “Kemanekesh,” capable of neutralizing threats from 200 km away.

To date, Baykar has produced around 800 drones of this type, with exports to 36 countries worldwide. Production capacity allows for one drone to be manufactured daily.
