New Year Preparations in Odesa

In Odesa, preparations for the New Year and Christmas festivities are underway. Yesterday, city workers began assembling the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street. 

This tree stands 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. Traditionally, it will be topped with a Christmas star. This year, the main Christmas tree will be decorated with elements of traditional Ukrainian patterns and blue-yellow ribbons. 

The ceremonial opening is scheduled for December 6 – St. Nicholas Day. 

«On St. Nicholas Day, the main Christmas tree of Odesa will be inaugurated, along with a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration. Guests will enjoy a concert by the Odesa Municipal Brass Band named after O. Salik, as well as performances by talented children from the city's creative institutions. Additionally, festive events will take place during the New Year and Christmas period at various municipal venues, including the zoo,» said Ivan Liptuga, the head of the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration. 

Due to martial law and curfew, mass street celebrations are not planned for New Year's Eve.
