Remembering Sergey Ilyin: A Talented Artist and Scholar
At the age of 76, the renowned Odesa artist Sergey Ilyin passed away unexpectedly. He was an active member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and worked at the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art.
Born on April 30, 1949, Sergey graduated from the Odesa Art School and the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University. He dedicated many years to the museum, significantly contributing to the cultural landscape.
The artist skillfully combined his knowledge of art history and literature, allowing him to effectively curate exhibitions of various artists.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, he led a film lecture series at the museum starting in 1996 and continued to create paintings. His works were showcased at international exhibitions in cities like Paris and Brussels.
Sergey Ilyin will be remembered as a talented, kind, and honorable individual, a true intellectual.
