New Year Preparations in Odesa

In Odesa, the preparations for the festive season are in full swing. Recently, municipal workers began setting up the main New Year tree on Deribasivska Street. 

This year's tree will stand 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. At its top, a traditional Christmas star will be placed. The tree will be adorned with elements of Ukrainian folk art and ribbons in the national colors. 

The official opening is scheduled for December 6, coinciding with St. Nicholas Day. 

“On St. Nicholas Day, the main Christmas tree in Odesa will be unveiled along with a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture. Guests can look forward to performances by the Odesa Municipal Brass Band and talented children from local creative institutions. Additional festive activities will take place in various municipal venues, including the zoo,” stated Ivan Liptuga, head of the department. 

Due to the state of war and curfew, mass street celebrations on New Year's Eve will not be held.
