Launch of the New Museum Collections Registry in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new resolution regarding the launch of an experimental project — the Registry of Museum Collections of Ukraine. This digital system will unify information about all state-owned museum items and ensure their accounting, preservation, and protection. This decision will make processes more transparent and manageable. 
"Each museum will have its own cabinet and free access to a unified interface. The digital registry will allow for monitoring, inventory, and control over the movement of museum valuables within Ukraine and abroad. It will also provide access to data about museum collections and information on the recovery of stolen or lost exhibits. Thanks to the registry, we will be able to implement other projects faster, including evacuation. This is an important project for preserving our cultural heritage," emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine — Minister of Culture of Ukraine, Tetiana Berezhna.
The resolution is necessary to organize processes related to the collection, storage, protection, and processing of information about museum items and collections belonging to the state part of the Museum Fund of Ukraine. 
The registry will provide opportunities for monitoring, inventory, and control over the movement of museum valuables, as well as tools for accessing information about searching for and recovering stolen or lost items. Additionally, the system will provide convenient and secure access to data about museum collections.

The registry will allow:

• to record each museum item in digital form;
• to monitor the movement of exhibits within Ukraine and abroad;
• to respond quickly in case of disappearance or theft of cultural assets;
• to create a database for the return of lost museum items;
• to generate analytics on the status of museum collections.

The experimental project will last up to two years. During this time, technical solutions will be tested, the procedure for the Registry's interaction with other electronic systems will be determined, and the circle of users will be defined.
The creation of the Registry is an important step towards the preservation of the Museum Fund of Ukraine and enhancing the role of museums in shaping modern Ukrainian culture.
