Exhibition “The Air of War” Opens in Odesa

On June 7, the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art will launch the exhibition “The Air of War”. The exhibition is created by an active member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with combat experience, whose identity remains confidential.

The museum announced the event on its social media channels.

The primary motivation for this installation was the personal experience of loss and the effort to cope with traumatic memories. The concept of a memory space emerged in the author's imagination as a place where each fallen comrade can be honored in memory, even if symbolically, as stated in the exhibition release.

The project is entirely confidential: no names, surnames, or personal data of the servicemen are mentioned; there is no information that could reveal military secrets or the identity of the author, who continues to serve.

The installation will consist of 88 canvases, each titled with the date of a comrade's death.

The curator of the project is Yuliya Tomashevska-Harachuk. During the exhibition opening, there will also be a lecture by the curator of the Memory Culture platform, Oksana Dovhopolova.

The museum has specifically warned that there will be an age restriction: children under 16 are not recommended to attend.

On the opening day, entry is free. Subsequently, tickets will cost up to 100 UAH. For those who were forced to leave their homes temporarily, entry is free.
